Root Canal Treatment

Step1:

Once the area has been numbed, our dentist will insert a thin rubber sheet into your mouth. This is known as a dental dam, and it covers everything except the tooth that is being treated on. It helps to keep the region around the tooth clean and prevents infection from spreading.

Step 2:

Our dentist will use a drill to cut a hole in the top of your tooth and extract the pulp. They will clean up the empty hole with little devices and a liquid to sterilize the inside of the tooth and wash out any diseased material. The equipment aid in the formation of more regular canal shapes, allowing the tooth to be filled and cleaned more precisely.

Step 3:

After cleaning the tooth, our dentist will fill and seal it. Unless the dentist is certain that all infection has been removed, a temporary filling will be placed. The tooth will subsequently be permanently filled at a subsequent appointment. If your tooth is substantially worn or at risk of future damage, our dentist may recommend that you get a crown, which is a cap that goes over your tooth.

How long does it take to recover from root canal treatment?

It may take several hours after a local anaesthetic to regain feeling in your jaw and face. Take extra care not to bump or knock the region. You can take over-the-counter pain relievers to aid with any discomfort after the anaesthesia wears off and for the next several days. You will be allowed to return to work following the process.

You may have some discomfort around the area, but this should only be temporary. The area around your tooth may also be swollen and bruised. This should improve within two weeks of starting medication.
